The 2015 Public Issues Leadership Workshop (PILD)
Imagining Extension - Eyes on the Future...

When: April 12-15, 2015
Where: The Hyatt Regency - Crystal City, VA
Why: Professional Development and
Public Issues Education
Who: Hear what one of our Extension Directors and a Volunteer
that has been to PILD several times has to say about PILD.

“Each year the University of Wisconsin-Extension sends a group of more than 30 participants to the Public Issues Leadership Development Conference, which culminates to visits on Capitol Hill. Our contingency includes friends of Cooperative Extension: county board supervisors, 4-H youth leaders, Resource Advocacy Network members, volunteers and Cooperative Extension educators. As dean and director, I feel the time and expense invested in this conference pays boundless dividends because of the leadership skills, advocacy in action and Extension network knowledge gained by conference participants.”

  • Richard M. Klemme, Dean and Director, Cooperative Extension, University of Wisconsin-Extension

Volunteer Carol Checket says:
Attending PILD has been such a valuable experience for me in so many aspects. PILD allows the opportunity to learn the most up to date information about the latest trends in agriculture and how they affect our world and our economy. It certainly has made me a better advocate when speaking to funding sources at the local, state and federal level. PILD has given me the opportunity to form valuable relationships with other advocates representing Land Grant Universities throughout United States. PILD is truly one of the best educational programs available for volunteer advocates.
